Although there is existing research in the US independent research is required for Europe. It is required, as the results from other countries are not simply transferable. Thus it has to be recognized that violence can only be researched in a particular societal context. Already the elements of an offence are depending on socio-cultural and subjective dimensions.
Internationally there is no longitudinal-panel-study, which researches sexual violence against women, in its manifestation and consequences, including fear of crime, intervention and measures of prevention.
This is the first study researching the consequences of harassment, victimisation and fear of crime on success of studies of female students.
The planned study is interdisciplinary including aspects of criminology, psychology, health science, social science, ethnology, ethics, pedagogy and social work and by using a variety of methods.
